General:
PRESLEY DeJARNETT passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2003. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on January 8, 1928. He was the son of Brown and Louise DeJarnett. Mr. DeJarnett is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Betty DeJarnett; son, Gregg DeJarnett and wife Marian; daughter, Debby Brogan; son-in-law, Tim and granddaughter, Elizabeth Brogan and close relatives, Darwin Spencer and wife Ruth, Bobby Kinkead and wife Joyce and Dorothy Reeves and many kind and devoted friends. Mr. DeJarnett was called to active duty in World War II and again during the Korean Conflict. After his service to his country was completed, he returned to the University of Arkansas and earned a Master of Science degree in petroleum geology. After retiring from over thirty years in International Oil Exploration with Marathon Oil, Gulf, and Chevron, Mr. DeJarnett had the time to give caring and enthusiastic service to his church and community for many years. He was a member of Northwoods Presbyterian Church. He served there as an elder, member of the Mission Committee, the Wonderful Wednesday program, the Central American Partnership and the Historical Society of the New Covenant Presbytery. He was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. Community service included serving on the Homeowners Association, a Director of District #114 Water Board, and a volunteer with the Houston Museum of Natural Science. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at 2:00pm at Northwoods Presbyterian Church, 3320 FM 1960 West, Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Missions Fund of Northwoods or to a favorite charity of your choice.
