The Accounts of the Lord High Trea surer of Scotland contain an item for red and yellow breeches for James Ge dy, Fool. In May, 1567 is another item for white cloth for a pair of sho rt hose and shoes for the same fool. The Queen to whom this fool may ha ve belonged was Mary, Queen of Scots, or possibly the Queen mother, Ma ry of Guise. Although he was a court's fool, today he would have been another Bob Hop e, Red Skelton, etc. Court fools were smart people. They had to be.
