Notes
General:
Reportedly, Simeon, Sr came to the Kentucky area of Virginia before the American Revolution from the state of New York. He settled some land in Virginia in 1769. At the time, the property was located in Botetourt County, but this county had been formed in 1769-70 from Augusta County and records of land de eds, etc., were not yet being kept complete. The land which Simeon settled became a part of Fincastle County in 1772 and then of Washington County in 1776-77. The first record actually appears in the Wahsington County Surveyors Records under date of August 25, 1781.
Kentucky was still a bloody frontier at the time that Simeon Sr settled there. It had been known as Kentucky since 1776 (usually referred to as Kentucky County, Virginia), and Fayette County was one of three huge areas of Kentucky until 1790 when nine counties were formed from those three and Fayette was retained a s a name of one of them. Kentucky became a state in 17982, and Jessamine County was formed from a part of Fayette County in 1798.
Simeon Sr moved from Washington Co., VA in 1789 to the area then known as Fayette County, VA. Kentucky becmae a state in 1792 and Fayette County was one of its original counties. Jessamine County was formed form Fayette in 1798.
