Jennie Frost Ballou, of Morningside, Atlanta, devoted wife and mother, died Thursday April 1, in Atlanta. Visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 4, at Patterson Spring Hill Funeral Home on Spring Street. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 5, at the Cathedral of St. Philip. She will be buried at the Tallulah Falls Town Cemetery. Jennie Ballou was born April 3, 1932, in Panama City, Florida. She was the oldest daughter of Sylvester Don and Elizabeth Hamilton Frost. She graduated from Miller High School in Macon in 1949, and earned Associate of Arts degrees from the University of Maryland and the University of New Hampshire. In 1954, she married Dennis Ballou of Macon. For the next fifty years, the first twenty of which were spent as the wife of a career officer in the U.S. Navy, she was his loving and steady partner and supporter. They traveled the world together and lived for several years in Singapore. Since 1981, Jennie Ballou has been a member of the Cathedral of St. Philip. She served on the altar guild and was a member and past president of St. Veronica's Guild. Before moving to Atlanta, the Ballou family resident in Athens, and belonged to Emmanuel Episcopal Church from 1974 to 1981. Jennie Ballou was an avid reader, and throughout her adult life she pursued interests in art and history. Her curious mind led her to become a docent at various museums, including the Carlos Museum at Emory University and the National Museum of Singapore. She was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her husband; her five children: Elizabeth Ballou Gibbs and her husband Jeff D. Gibbs, of Tifton; Robert C. Ballou and his wife Roberta J. Long, of Atlanta; Richard H. Ballou and his wife Saideh M. Ballou, of Santa Clara, California; David H. Ballou, of Atlanta; and Kathryn Ann Ballou and her husband Jeff Breedlove, also of Atlanta; her two sisters and their husbands, Jacqueline Frost Weston and her husband Jerry Weston, of Pinehurst, North Carolina and Bette Frost Montgomery and her husband Bruce Montgomery, of Savannah; and her eight beautiful grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to St. Veronica's Guild, Episcopal Cathedral of St. Philip, 2744 Peachtree Road NW, Atlanta, GA 30305. Arrangements by H.M.
