General:

Edmund was brought to MO from KY when only 2 YO. He learned the cabinet-m aker's trade at the age of 20. In 1844, he moved to Jefferson County whe re he followed the trade of cabinet-maker, carpenter and blacksmith, and f arming. He also served as Justice of the Peace, was the first postmast er at Greenville, public administrator of Jefferson County from 1860 to 18 64, and in 1874 he was elected to the State Legislature from Jefferson Cou nty as a Democrat. He was a member of the Masonic Fraternity, of Joach im Lodge, and he and his wife were member of the Baptist church.
